Summary of the Model

The Camaro was first introduced in 1966. When asked by a reporter what a "Camaro" was, a Chevrolet product manager responded "a small, vicious animal that eats Mustangs!" The first generation Camaro offered three trims that would continue to make appearances throughout the life of the car. Those packages are the Rally Sport (RS) appearance package, the Super Sport (SS) with upgraded engine and chassis, and the Z/28 performance upgrade. Just like today’s models, it was also available as a convertible.

The Camaro went through many changes over the years, becoming larger, wider, and sleeker. Chevrolet stopped production in 2002, only to return in 2009 with an all-new concept look. The sixth generation of the Camaro would debut for the 2016 model year, coming full circle with a look based on the original 1967 car and featuring an upgradeable 3.6L V6 engine rated at 323 horsepower.
